A new pair of shoes is always a good thing! We both remember when we were growing up and new shoes was the only thing that made the entire situation of going back to school bearable!
Fortunately, there are no shortage of shoes available now for every kid’s style. You can go classic, modern, comfortable or even high fashion.
The classics – Jack Purcell Converse
Jack Purcell was actually a Canadian badminton player who won numerous titles in the 1920s and 30s. In 1935 helped design a new badminton shoe that became hot in street culture. Converse bought the rights to the shoe and has now re-launched the style with ultra-responsive cushioning and Nike Zoom air technology. That rim at the top (on the toe) is called the two-piece smile.
The modern – Ciroc X Sully Wong
Another Canadian success story, Sully Wong is made up of George Sully and Henry Wong. The team is based out of Toronto and largely inspired by their Canadian-Asian heritage and pays homages to the history of hip hop and the Apollo moon landing. Most recently, Sully Wong launched an all-white sneaker with Ciroc vodka, perfect for a day at a cabana.
The comfortable – ECCO
All about comfort but never compromising style. The founder wanted these to be comfortable from the moment you put them on, no need to wear them in. Based in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, ECCO uses 85% of their leather from their own tanneries. Check out the new ECCO store at Chinook Centre for all the hottest new looks, in particular the Soft 7 collection is available in stores now (a great collection of black and white shoes, backpacks and handbags).
The High Fashion – Thorocraft (or TCG)
Based in California, and known for top quality and modern style, we love these footwear because they are hand-crafted and produced in limited numbers. We first stumbled on these at the new Nordstrom and we love the patterns that are available.
